Software:I-Ready

From HandWiki

I-Ready is a software package that tests students on their math or reading skills at their own level. Many schools have implemented the software into their teaching with mixed results. After taking personalized tests, the software changes what it teaches to the individual student.[1] Teachers can see what students have been working on, and can interpret the data to change the way they teach certain subjects. The course also changes with the speed and understanding of each student.

History

I-Ready was created in 1969 by the Curriculum Associates (C.A.) of Billerica for the purpose of publishing student workbooks.[2] C.A. moved into online programs in 2011 with the release of i-Ready; a personalized teaching program.[3] Its headquarters is located in North Billerica, Massachusetts.[4] i-Ready originally ran on Flash, but was later moved to HTML, likely due to concerns about security.

Learning games

Some small, free learning games from i-Ready are popular with students because of their easy-to-learn controls and simple mechanics. Students that participate in the full curriculum may play any of these games during their learning sessions or as a break. These games may also appear at certain points during the i-Ready diagnostic. Some of the learning/break games from i-Ready include Galaxy Sprint, Hungry Fish/Hungry Guppy, and Cloud Machine.[5]
