Brygophis is a genus of snake in the family Pseudoxyrhophiidae (subfamily Pseudoxyrhophiinae).[1] The genus is monotypic, containing the sole species Brygophis coulangesi, which is endemic to Madagascar .[2][1]
Etymology
The generic name, Brygophis, is in honor of French herpetologist Édouard-Raoul Brygoo.[3]
The specific name, coulangesi, is in honor of French epidemiologist Pierre Coulanges.[3]
Habitat
The preferred natural habitat of B. coulangesi is forest, at altitudes of 900–1,200 m (3,000–3,900 ft).[2]
Behavior
B. coulangesi is arboreal.[2][1]
Diet
B. coulangesi preys upon frogs and small mammals.[2]
Reproduction
B. coulangesi is oviparous.[1]
