Dit zwaard is verzameld in Zuidoost-Kalimantan maar komt oorspronkelijk van Buton, een eiland ten zuidoosten van Sulawesi. Het zwaard heeft de typerende kenmerken van een ´klewang´: het lemmet loopt breed uit naar de punt toe. Een zwaard werd niet alleen als wapen gebruikt, maar ook als werktuig. Heel belangrijk was bovendien de symbolische functie: een zwaard onderstreepte de mannelijkheid van de drager.
