Summary
DescriptionChesapeake and Ohio Railway steam turbine locomotive 500.JPG
Postcard photo of Chesapeake and Ohio Railway's "500"-a coal-fired steam turbine locomotive.
Date
Card is undated. This locomotive was new circa 1948-1949 and was part of their exhibit at the 1948-1949 Chicago Railroad Fair. However, these units were beset with various issues and were said to never complete a passenger train run without some type of problem along the route. They were removed from use and scrapped by 1950.
There are no copyright marks on the card as can be seen by both views.
