Summary

Description
English: Translated from a dedicated website: It is understood from the inscription on the Selamlık gate of the Hacı Hafız Ahmet Balak House, located next to the Divanyolu post office, that it was built in 1888. It is the first civil architectural structure expropriated by the Ministry of Culture in Şanlıurfa. After its expropriation in 1979, it was restored and opened to service as the State Fine Arts Gallery in 1998. It is made of smooth cut stones and is one of the most beautiful examples of traditional Urfa houses with harem and selamlık sections. The woodwork on the door and window wings and the niches made up of wooden shelves in the rooms reflect the woodwork in Urfa houses. The third iwan, located in the southwest corner of the haremlik courtyard, is rarely seen in Urfa houses. On the west side of the courtyard, there is a room, kitchen and woodshed adjacent to the iwan. In the northwest corner of the kitchen, there is a small, single-domed bath. In 2012, it was allocated to the Directorate of Cultural and Natural Heritage Conservation Regional Board.
