Summary
DescriptionPelecanimimus UDL.png
English: Pelecanimimus is a basal ornithomimosaurian dinosaur from the Early Cretaceous of Spain. It was a small ornithomimosaur, at about 2.5 m long and weighing 17–30 kg. Pelecanimimus is notable for possessing 220 teeth in its long, narrow skull. This is the most teeth of any known theropod, and is especially unusual as almost all other ornithomimosaurs possessed no teeth at all. Soft-tissue remains reveal the presence of a small skin or keratin crest on the back of the head, and a pouch similar to the larger pouches found in modern pelicans, from which Pelecanimimus took its name.
