Summary
DescriptionSydney Harbour Bridge hinge.jpg
English: Sydney Harbour Bridgehinge at the southern end of the bridge. As the bridge expands and contracts with temperature, these hinges accept the flexing of the bridge itself. The four bearings in the hinges (two at each end of the bridge), each have a mass of 300 tonnes and each supports a thrust of 20,000 tonnes.[1] The size of the structure can be gauged from the pedestrian gangway between the two arches.
