Summary

Description
English: Plate I from Tolchester Folio, Maryland, which has the following caption:
IRREGULARITY IN BEDDING OF MOTTLED CLAY AND GRAVELLY SAND OF PATUXENT FORMATION IN CUT ON BALTIMORE & OHIO RAILROAD NEAR JOPPA, HARFORD COUNTY.

The text of the Folio states:

The only structural features of interest are the numerous examples of contemporaneous erosional unconformities and the steep dip of the laminae of the crossbedded sands. (See Pl. I.) Both of these features indicate deposition of the material by shifting shallow-water currents of considerable velocity.
