SUPERCONDUCTING RADIO-FREQUENCY (SRF) CAVITIES IN CLEANROOM AT FERMI NATIONAL ACCELERATOR LABORATORY.

Niobium is the material of choice for building superconducting RF cavities. The best cavities can propel particles with an electric field in excess of 30 million volts per meter. To protect the polished, ultraclean surfaces inside the cavities, technicians assemble them under cleanroom condition.
