Physics:Scintillating fibre calorimeter

From HandWiki

A heterogeneous calorimeter whose cells are volumes filled with a reasonably homogeneous arrangement of scintillating fibres interspersed with some passive material. Fibre calorimeters are comparatively cheap, produce a fast signal, and give good energy resolution due to very frequent sampling. They have been used for electromagnetic calorimetry at moderate energy (Hertzog90). Advantages and limitations are discussed in Livan95.
