He is an alumnus of [[Organization:Bridgewater College|Bridgewater College]] and [[Organization:Cornell University|Cornell University]], where he earned his Ph.D. in 1974 and was a Postdoctoral Associate at [[Organization:Duke University|Duke University]]. He has been a professor at Penn State's University Park Campus since 1979.
