This short tutorial describes how to create an article in the  [[ZWI file format|ZWI file format]] developed for [[Encyclosphere|Encyclosphere]] project.

== Creating a ZWI article from known source ==

The best way to create an article from about 30 public encyclopedias supported by [[Encyclosphere|Encyclosphere]] is to use the [[Software:Encycloreader|Encycloreader]]. Go to the web site [https://encycloreader.org encycloreader.org] and search for a word. If you see the result, this means the ZWI file is already in the databases. Click on the title of the article. Scroll down and download ZWI file with the article content.

If you do not see the article immediately what "From search of external encyclopedias:" and click. After you looked at the article, you can find ZWI after about 20 minutes in the webpage  [https://encycloreader.org/db/ encycloreader.org/db/]

If you like to use command lines to make ZWI files from known sources, use this Python tool called [https://gitlab.com/ks_found/ZWIBuilder ZWIBuilder].

Another way of obtaining a ZWI file is to use [https://encyclosearch.org/ encyclosearch.org]. It has a similar functionality, but some ZWI files may be slightly outdated since it relies on encycloreader for ZWI with full article content.

=== Using existing wiki ===
If you use encyclopedias such as [https://handwiki.org Handwiki] or [https://citizendium.org/ Citizendium], write an article as usual using the wiki syntax. Then  look at the menu "ZWI Export". This will push the article to the Encyclosphere. You should see it in [https://encycloreader.org/db/ encycloreader.org/db/] after 20 min. You can also search for it in [https://encycloreader.org encycloreader.org]

If you want to make an article using a WYSIWYG HTML editor, use the Encyclosphere test website [https://enhub.org/ EnHub]. Use the option "Add" from the top menu.

If you want to create your own  publishing platform to make ZWI files and host them, use the software called

=== Making your own Mediawiki-style articles  ===
If you want to create a ZWI file using the Mediawiki software, install Medaiwiki and then add the extension called [https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ZWIMaker Extension:ZWIMaker].
