A tertiary acid is an acid that has the elements hydrogen and oxygen along with another element, often a nonmetal.[1] Equivalently, they contain hydrogen in addition to a polyatomic ion. Tertiary acids include nitric acid, sulfuric acid, and sulfurous acid.Do not use a prefix. Simply change the ending of the polyatomic ion name and add word acid.
