Reliable HTTP (HTTPR) was a protocol developed by IBM[1] for the reliable delivery of HTTP packets aimed at improving the reliability of Web services. It never received a consensus among other industry participants and all development has ceased.

WS-ReliableMessaging is the recent standards based attempt to achieve the same kind of reliability.
