Jasymca [1] is Java symbolic calculator calculator. CAS (Computer Algebra System), provides exact and symbolic datatypes, interactive graphics display of functions. The user interface can be selected from either a Matlab/Octave/SciLab-style, or a GNU-Maxima-style. Jasymca was developed by Prof. Dr. H. Dersch (HFU Furtwangen). The versions pbefore version 3.0 were Java-based. The version 4.0a is based on javaScript and can be run from the browsers.

Jasymca supports arbitrary precision numbers and symbolic variables. Scalars, vectors, and matrices can be built from all datatypes and used in calculations. From the pseudo-inverse of symbolic matrices over trigonometric simplifications to symbolic solutions of integrals and systems of equations, the main functionalities of CAS-programs are provided. Additionally, high performance numerical routines from LAPACK and a plot module are implemented. The user interface can be selected from either an Octave/Matlab/SciLab-like language or a GNU-Maxima style.
