The template creates a citation to the information webpage for a species in the AlgaeBase taxonomic database.

Usage

  • {{AlgaeBase species|name=SPECIES NAME|id=#####}}
  • {{AlgaeBase species|mode=cs1 (default) OR cs2|name=SPECIES NAME|id=#####|access-date=DATE}}

The name parameter should give the species name.
The id parameter should be the number at the end of the url, often a 4 or 5 digit number. For example, if the url is http://www.algaebase.org/search/species/detail/?species_id=27356, the highlighted number, 27356, would be put into the id field if you wanted to include a link to the AlgaeBase page on Chlamydomonas reinhardtii.
The mode parameter with a value of "cs2" can be used to generate a cs2 style citation; the default is cs1.
The access-date parameter gives the date on which AlgaeBase was accessed.

Examples:

Important: AlgaeBase uses different urls for genera, species, and higher taxa. Use the following templates for genera and higher taxa respectively:
