Rootstock’s ERP software was originally created as a NetSuite platform, but was subsequently rewritten for the Force.com environment in 2011.[3]

In 2016, Rootstock launched general accounting modules, including accounts receivable, accounts payable and general ledger apps.[5]
In January 2018, Rootstock acquired Kenandy Inc., a developer of cloud ERP software.[6]
In 2018, Rootstock received Series C funding from Salesforce.
In 2020, Rootstock announced its adaptation of the Salesforce Lightning low-code environment.[7]
In 2022, Rootstock was acquired by Gryphon Investors, and David Stephans, president of Rootstock since 2011, was named CEO. Founder Pat Garrehy retains a seat on the board of directors.[8]
Technology
The Rootstock ERP software is built on the Salesforce customer relationship management (CRM) platform and provides manufacturers and distributors with the capabilities to operate using a project-based approach, including sales order management, forecasting, planning, manufacturing execution, and financials.[9]
Rather than targeting a specific industry vertical within manufacturing, Rootstock’s ERP software serves across the discrete manufacturing sector.[10]
In 2020, Rootstock adopted low-code capabilities in its cloud ERP, introducing the ability to create custom workflows, mobile apps, dashboards, and AI-powered functionality.[11][12]
