Short description: Three goddesses of fate in Hurrian mythology
The Hutena were the three goddesses of fate of the Hurrian mythology. In Hittite mythology they were called the Gul Ses, Gul-Šeš, Gulšeš, or Gul-aššeš.[1]
The Hutena always appeared in plural, never alone. A possible translation of their names are "the Scribes" or "the Determiners of Fate". They dispense good and evil, life and death, to all humankind.
They serve the same function as the Norns of Norse mythology, the Moirai of Greece, and the Fates of Rome, all descended from the Proto-Indo-European religion's three spinsters of fate.
