Broken Crayon Games is a provider of family-oriented digital content and game services based in State College, Pennsylvania. The company was founded in 2013 by Tyler Yohe, an indie game developer.
History
Broken Crayon Games was founded as an subsidiary boutique publisher branch of Broken Crown Games, LLC.[1] The idea to form the publishing branch came when their parent company, Broken Crown Games, received international press for their out-of-game content called, the Science Behind the Sci-Fi.[2][3] With the increased spotlight from the indie gaming community, Broken Crown owner, Tyler Yohe, was overwhelmed by other indie studios with requests for marketing and business suggestions. To provide that aid, Tyler founded Broken Crayon Games.
The first to join the boutique publisher was Local Studio, Beauty of the Fall Productions.[4] The studio had four released titles for iOS with minor sales. Through coordination with Broken Crayon, the two organizations re-released an Android port of the original titles in July 2013. After having successful results with the re-issue Android ports, the pair worked together on a completely original title, Wizardous: An Apprentice's Betrayal. Beauty of the Fall Productions and Broken Crayon Games continue to produce titles together to this day.
Since the original trial with Beauty of the Fall Productions, Broken Crayon Games has collaborated with numerous other independent studios.
