Anadenanthera peregrina var. falcata is a timber tree native to Paraguay and Cerrado vegetation in Brazil , specially in Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, and São Paulo. This plant is also used as an ornamental.[citation needed]
