Aaron C. Newman (born 1971)[1] is an American entrepreneur known for his involvement in the technology sector. Newman has played key roles in several ventures, including DbSecure, Application Security Inc., Techrigy, and CloudCheckr.

Early Life

Newman served in the US Army during operation Desert Storm and earned a BS in Accounting Binghamton University in 1994.[1] He entered the business world as a management consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers.[2]

Career

In 1997, Newman began his entrepreneurial career by co-founding DbSecure Inc., a data security company, acquired by Internet Security Systems in 1998.[3] Following this, he founded Application Security Inc. in 2001, achieving significant growth and being listed in the Inc. magazine's fastest-growing companies.[2] In 2005, Newman moved to Rochester, NY and founded Techrigy Inc., specializing in social media monitoring. It was later acquired for over $4 million by Alterian PLC in 2009.[2] In 2011, he founded CloudCheckr, a cloud management company that secured $50 million in funding from Level Equity in 2017 and employed around 150 people in 2019.[1]

Adventures and Exploration

Beginning in 2011, Newman embarked on a journey to conquer some of the world's highest peaks, including six of the seven summits. In 2019 he reached 20,000 feet on Mount Everest and intends to return.[4][1] Following the implosion of the Titan Submersible, Newman spoke out about his 2021 journey in the Titanic sub and provided insight into the character of Stockton Rush, Paul Henry Nargeolet, and Hamish Harding.[5]
