Judeo-Syrian Arabic also called Syrian Judeo-Arabic, is a now extinct dialect of the Judeo-Arabic dialects based on Syrian Arabic.
History
Syrians Jews have been present in Syria since biblical times, as Jews in Canaan moved to Syria.[1] After the Israeli war of Independence and Syrian independence the Jewish community of Syria was subjected to several pogroms and persecution.[1] A community of 4,000 would be forced to stay and closely observed by the Syrian government with those attempting to escape being killed.[1] But after international pressure the Syrian government was convinced to let the Syrian Jews leave.[1]
Features
Judeo-Syrian Arabic contained Ladino and Hebrew loanwords.[2][3]
