UpKeep Technologies is a company headquartered in Los Angeles, California that produces UpKeep Maintenance Management, or simply UpKeep, a mobile-first CMMS/enterprise asset management application designed to help maintenance and manufacturing facilities with organization and communication.

Background

UpKeep was founded in 2014 by Ryan Chan. While working as a process development engineer at a chemical manufacturing plant, Chan was dissatisfied with the pen-and-paper organization system used by the technicians there and was inspired to quit his job, learn to code, and develop the software.[1][2][3]

The company raised over $13 million in funding, including a $2.7 million seed round from investors including Battery Ventures, Y Combinator, and Mucker Capital and a $10 million Series A round from Kevin Spain of Emergence Capital.[2][4][5] Chan was included in the 2018 Forbes 30 Under 30 due to his work with UpKeep.[6]

Product

UpKeep's software, a CMMS mobile application, is designed to help technicians create and track work orders for equipment repairs, enable collaboration between workers, and improve facility management.[7][2][1] The software enables users to assign work orders, prioritize tasks, enable communications between employees and teams, monitor inventory, and identify conditions and problems with equipment, as well as create schedules for preventative maintenance and find trends in tool breakdowns.[8]

Notable users

UpKeep has been utilized by customers including McDonald's, Yamaha, Jet.com, Marriott, Google, Magic Leap, Unilever, Stericycle, the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, and the United States Department of Agriculture.[2][6][4][7][9]
