International Vedic Hindu University (formerly Hindu University of America)[1][2] is a U.S. non-profit educational institution based in Orlando, Florida.
History
The university was founded on October 24, 1993 (Vijayadashami), and acquired a 9.7-acre (39,000 m2) campus property with two buildings in 2000. A residential facility for full-time faculty was constructed in 2002.[citation needed] In 2009 the university reported it had 8,000 students taking courses either on campus or via the Internet.[2] The university offers graduate level courses in the ancient language of Sanskrit, Hindu Philosophy, Yoga, Ayurveda, Jyotish medicinal chemistry.[2]
Accreditation
As of academic year 2019–2020, the University is not accredited, but states that it offers a legitimate degree authorized by the State of Florida, and has plans to secure accreditation from three different agencies.[3]
