Organization:Middlesex University Mauritius
Middlesex University[1] has had a presence in Mauritius since 2010 and was the first British university to open in the country. It is one of four Middlesex University Campuses around the world (others being in London[1], Dubai[2] and Malta[3]).
In October 2017, Middlesex University Mauritius opened a purpose built new campus at Cascavelle, as part of Medine's Uniciti project[4]. The new campus boasts three lecture theatres equipped with the latest technology. Two of these seat 75 students whilst the third equipped with sense surround sound can seat up to 90 students. All teaching spaces are connected to the internet and are well-equipped with high-end audio visual technology. The campus consists of seven buildings with state of the art robotics, networking, biodiversity and psychology labs and a student house for clubs and societies. All campus buildings are named after buildings on the London Campus or former Middlesex campuses, thus continuing the theme of connectivity between the campus and London and the concept of “One Middlesex”.
Over 1,000 students, from 29 nationalities around the world, study both undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the campus. Flic en Flac beach is close by. Opposite the campus a new sports complex with a 50-metre Olympic sized swimming pool, football and rugby pitches, gym and fitness centre provides excellent facilities and preferential membership rates for Middlesex University students and staff.
The campus also features a Learning Resource Centre, open access and computer suites, and dining and social spaces as well as on-site accommodation. Lecturing academics based at the Mauritius campus work in partnership with the academic programme team based at Middlesex's London campuses to ensure the quality standards of the UK programmes are maintained in curriculum delivery, teaching styles and assessment. The Mauritius campus provides courses in Accounting and Finance[5], Business and Management[6], Computing and IT[7], Education[8], Law and Politics[9], Media and Communications[10] and Psychology[11]. Students are also able to join a foundation programme to prepare them for a degree[12].[13]
