Solanum ovigerum |
Solanum ovigerum, the Easter white eggplant, is a plant of Solanaceae family, related to eggplant (S. melongena). The stem and leafstalks are green, or very faintly tinged with purple, and bear a few white spines. Leaves are wavy at the edges. Flowers are lilac. It is recognized by its oblong fruit, also grown as an ornamental plant, for covering walls or trellises.
Solanum ovigerum as described by Dunal[1] is not the Easter eggplant; S. ovigerum resembles blue witch nightshade. Further genetic tests are being performed to distinguish the true phylogeny of this hybrid.
