Sir Richard R. Cruise (1877 - 1946) was a British ophthalmologist who invented the mesh at the front of helmets that protect the eyes from trauma.[1][2][3] In 1914 he was on the list of medical staff at the King Edward VII's Hospital for Officers, compiled by Sister Agnes.[4]
