Consolidated Graphics (CGX) was an international, commercial printing company based in Houston, Texas. Founded in 1985 by Joe R. Davis, and publicly traded in 1994, the company has grown to over 70 locations across 26 states and three continents. CGX is a sheetfed, Web, and digital printing company.

Joe grew up in the small city of Ogden, Arkansas where he then went on to graduate from the University of Arkansas.

Consolidated Graphics began a training program called the Leadership Development Program (LDP) in 1991. This two-year program trains recent college graduates in a rotational program on every aspect of the printing business.[1] Associates in the LDP work in production, estimating, customer service, purchasing, and accounting before ultimately moving into sales, operations, accounting, management, or technology positions.

Companies under Consolidated Graphics operate independently with their own management, sales force, and market presence. This business model lets these local printing companies have the purchasing power and resources of a national corporation.

In 2010, Joe Davis, CEO of Consolidated Graphics, was named WhatTheyThink’s Print CEO of the Year.[2]

Technology Services and Solutions Group (TSSG) is a technology company owned and operated by Consolidated Graphics. Also based in Houston, Texas , this center offers products and services for business printing needs. They announced a product, the WorkSmart Suite, at the annual emerge Conference on May 18, 2011.[3]

In 2013, RR Donnelley acquired Consolidated Graphics for 620 million dollars.[4]
