Wiebke Drenckhan, born physicist who specializes in the study of liquid and solid foams and emulsions. She has also provided illustrations for several popular science books.[1]
6 April 1977 in Bad Belzig is a GermanBiography
After studying physics and mathematical physics in Germany, she defended a thesis entitled "Stability and motion of foams and films in confined geometries" at Trinity College in Dublin in 2004.[2] She then did postdoctoral research at Paris Diderot University in Paris, France . In 2007, she joined the Laboratoire de Physique des Solides at the University of Paris-Sud. In 2014, she obtained her Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches at the University of Paris-Sud on the topic of “A science of transition - from liquid to solid foams”. Since 2016, she is a CNRS researcher at the Institut Charles Sadron in Strasbourg, France.[3]
Prizes and distinctions
- In 2013, she received the Irène Joliot-Curie Prize for women in science and technology for her experimental work and simulations of foams.[4]
- In 2015, she received the CNRS Bronze Medal.[1]
