Commanding the just (Arabic: امر بالمعروف Amr bi l-Ma‘rūf) is a part of Islam. It refers to encouraging people to do the necessary good in life even when they have forgotten to do so. For example, when they have forgotten salat.

Etymology

The doctrine is derived from the Qur'anic Enjoin what is good and forbid what is wrong.
