Mettar Simulations (legally Mettar Simulations Ltd.) is a commercial add-on software development company that specializes in making products for the Lockheed Martin Prepar3D, X-Plane, and Microsoft Flight Simulator series. It was officially registered as a private limited company in the United Kingdom by Matthew Davies, its founder, in the summer of 2017[1], to incorporate multiple projects led by Davies, such as ProjectFly and PTA, under one brand identity.[2]

History

Launch of ProjectFly

ProjectFly is the brand name for Mettar Simulation's virtual flight tracking and pilot logbook software, which began development in 2014 under its own name by Matthew Davies. Directly upon creation, it had been merged with Mettar Simulations, and has been its' staple launch product.[3] The software has been completely redeveloped four times, the most recent update being to ProjectFly v4.[4]

Acquisition of PTA

Prepar3D Tweak Assistant (commonly abbreviated to PTA) is a plugin for the Prepar3D software series which allows the user to manually change visual settings of the simulator without editing source code, and was originally developed as a freeware product.

Matthew Davies acquired the entirety of the rights for the software from its original developer in 2017 for a "five-figure sum" and announced that the brand would be incorporated into Mettar Simulations and be sold as a payware product. This was met with great discontent in the flight simulation community. Davies reassured PTA users that the previous developer has ended all development for the plugin, and that Davies would now resume development and update the software to be compatible with newer versions of Prepar3D.[5]

A380 Development Project

In November 2018, CEO and Founder, Matthew Davies, announced the production of a study-level Airbus A380 aircraft add-on for Prepar3D v4+ and X-Plane 11+, which would be the first aircraft add-on developed by Mettar Simulations, and the first study-level A380 for flight simulators. [6]

A number of preview photos of the rendered model of the aircraft had been released to the public and an estimated release date of 2019/2020 was announced, yet no new updates have been published to this day, and the add-on remains in development.[7]
