RSS3 is a decentralized open-source information syndication protocol.[2][3] It is a web3 feed standard that allows users and applications to access updates of on-chain activities in a standardized, computer-readable, and human-readable fixed-structure JSON format.[4][5]Subscribing to RSS3 feeds allows users to keep track of many different blockchain public keys (also known as addresses) in a single feed aggregator, which constantly monitors blockchain data sources for new activities, removing the need for users to check them manually.
RSS3 aims to create a new ecosystem of information syndication to replace the traditional centralized information distribution of Web 2.0 services.[6] RSS3 is an open protocol that allows anyone to build decentralized applications using the data format in which users can interact.[7]
RSS's mechanism and design concept inspired the founders of RSS3, yet RSS3 is not related to RSS.[8] The project was created by a startup named Natural Selection Labs in 2021. It was first launched on open-source bounty website Gitcoin grants and raised over $91,078 from the contributors.[9]
