In Sumerian mythology, Ninsar (Sumerian: 𒀭𒊩𒌆𒊬, romanized: Ninmu; from Nin = Lady, Sar = Green(ery)) is the goddess of plants. Her birth resulted from Enki impregnating Ninhursag who followed a period of gestation lasting nine days. The poet was careful to note that each day corresponds to a month in the human period of gestation; of this union is begotten the goddess Ninsar. Ninsar in return is impregnated by her father and after nine days of gestation she gives birth to the goddess Ninkur.
