The KGK Group is a multinational conglomerate covering the entire spectrum of mining, sourcing, manufacturing, and distributing coloured gemstones, diamonds, and jewellery. The company is named after the founders, Keshrimal Ji Kothari and Ghisilal Ji Kothari.
History
The KGK Group originated in 1905 when Keshrimalji Kothari began task of trading gemstones between Indian and Burma. Ghisilalji Kothari, his son, continued leadership. then going to third-generation Navrattan Kothari and his sons, Sanjay and Sandeep Kothari.[1][2]
- 1915: KGK started trading coloured gemstones in Chennai[3]
- 1962: Operations established in Hong Kong
- 1972: Launched coloured stones operations in USA[4]
- 1975: Diamonds sourcing operations launched in Mumbai[5]
- 1986: Diamonds processing operations established in Mumbai[6]
- 1997: KGK awarded Sightholder status by De Beers[7]
- 1999: Jewellery manufacturing unit established in Panyu, China[8]
- 2004: Fine jewellery flagship brand Entice launched in Hong Kong SAR[9]
- 2010: KGK real estate division launched in India[10]
- 2014: KGK opened diamond manufacturing unit in Botswana, Africa[11]
- 2014: KGK goes into a strategic alliance for mining gemstones in Brazil and Mozambique for Paraiba, Emeralds and Rubellite.[12]
- 2014: KGK Diamonds signed long-term contracts with Russian miner ALROSA[13]
- 2015: KGK Diamonds Botswana becomes a De Beers Sightholder[14]
- 2015: Jewellery manufacturing unit established in Bangkok, Thailand[15]
- 2015: KGK Ausdiam formed by the acquisition of Australian jewellery distributor[16]
- 2017: Diamond cutting & polishing factory established in Vladivostok, Russia[17]
- 2018: Diamond manufacturing facility launched in Namibia[18]
- 2019: Diamond manufacturing facility opened in Angola[19]
Association
In 1997, KGK was awarded Sightholder[20] status by De Beers and became an authorized bulk purchaser of rough diamonds[21]. The group also is among the global companies who are preferred Alrosa Alliance[22] Members and Rio Tinto Select Diamantaires.
Corporate social responsibility
The Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (BMCHRC) in Jaipur, is funded by the activities of the KGK Group. It is the only super specialty cancer treatment hospital in Northern India.[23]. In addition, the KGK Group is a key supporter of the non-profit SS Jain Subodh Shiksha Samiti.[citation needed]

- The KGK Group is the winner and honoured partner of JNA awards for 4 years in a row (2016[24], 2017[25], 2018[26], 2019[27]). The JNA Award is organized by Informa Markets, Hong Kong
- In 2020, KGK Group won two meritorious title, Industry Innovation of the year- Technology and Outstanding Enterprise of the year- EMEA at the prestigious JNA Award[28]
