McAfee Institute LLC., is a professional certification body which administers several board certifications for the intelligence and investigative sectors.[1] Topics available for training include cryptocurrency investigations,[2] cyber intelligence and investigations, counterintelligence, human trafficking, workplace violence, active shooter, organized retail crime, leadership, incident response, digital forensics, fraud, deception detection and more.

Background

Founded in 2010, the McAfee Institute is a professional certification and training organization focused on the intelligence and investigative sectors.[3]

By 2018, the McAfee Institute has grown to offer several industry-recognized board certifications.[4] The Governing Board[5] of McAfee Institute oversees the certification affairs of the organization, contributes to the global standards of our certifications and helps to institute policy and actions by the membership during meetings or by ballot. The Governing Board consists of experts in Federal, Local & State law enforcement, Intelligence, loss prevention, cybersecurity & private investigation from around the globe.

McAfee Institute's is headquartered in Chesterfield, Missouri.[6]

The McAfee Institute has partnered with the Department of Homeland Securities National Initiative for Cybersecurity Careers and Studies (NICCS) and is listed on their site as a provider of professional certifications in this space.[7][8] The McAfee Institute is also partner with and recognized by ILEETA[9] The International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association.

McAfee Institute is certified to operate with the Missouri Department of Education as a proprietary school.[10] The central focus of the proprietary school certification program is consumer protection. This is accomplished through the establishment of standards for school operation and monitoring of those operations to ensure students are treated in a fair and equitable manner and receive education and training consistent with the published objectives of the instructional programs and the school.

McAfee Institute is a CPE Sponsor with the National Registry of CPE Sponsors[11] is a program offered by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) to recognize CPE program sponsors who provide continuing professional education (CPE) programs in accordance with nationally recognized standards.

McAfee Institute programs are approved for POST continuing education credits with the following POST. Missouri Peace Officer Standards and Training[12] (CLEE)  

McAfee Institute is recognized by SHRM[13] to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP®.

Military Programs and Partnerships

The McAfee Institutes resident based (in-person) certification training programs have been approved through the Veterans Administration[14] for G.I. Bill Benefits, effective November 12, 2018.

McAfee Institute exams are approved for reimbursement through the VA[15] if you are eligible. There is no limit to the number of exams you may take, or number of times you may take the same exam. And, VA will pay for exams even if you fail them.

McAfee Institute Certifications are approved for Credentialing Assistance (ARMY COOL,[16] NAVY COOL, DOD COOL,[17] MARINES COOL, COAST GUARD COOL[18]).

Sean Marschke, WVTS

Chief of Police Sturtevant Police Dept Sean Marschke has over 25 years of law enforcement experience. He has served in positions at the federal, state and local levels. He is the Chief of Police for the Sturtevant Police Department in Wisconsin. During his law enforcement career, Chief Marschke has been the lead investigator in major case investigations involving homicide, kidnapping, robbery, fraud and computer crimes. He loves coaching and helping L.E professionals to grow and succeed.

Robert Wiley, CECI

Detective/Fraud Investigator Texas City Police Department Wiley is a Fraud Investigator for the Texas city Police Department with 23 years of Law Enforcement experience. John Bryk, CCTA

Threat Intelligence Analyst DNG-ISAC John Bryk retired from the U.S. Air Force as a colonel after a 30-year career, last serving as a military diplomat in central and western Europe and later as a civilian with the Defense Intelligence Agency. Bryk holds, among other degrees, an MBA, an M.S. in Cybersecurity, and an M.A. in Business and Organizational Security Management, a combination that gives him a unique outlook on the physical and cyberthreat landscapes. As an intelligence analyst for the private-sector, he focuses on the protection of our nation's natural gas critical cyber and physical infrastructure.

Art Keller, CCIP

Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Clandestine Operative Art Keller served in the US Army during Operation Desert Storm and later spent seven years serving in the Central Intelligence Agency’s Directorate of Operations, where he worked on cases to block the proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction and terrorism issues. While at the CIA, he served as a weapons inspector in the Iraq Survey Group, and concluded his time at the CIA as an Acting Chief of Base in the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan. He has appeared on CNN, CBS, PBS’s News Hour, The National Geographic Channel, and the BBC.

Alan Greggo CPP, CFE

Director of Loss Prevention Microsoft Alan F Greggo has 30 years of Retail Loss Prevention leadership experience and is currently in the Asset Protection Department of Microsoft. He is Chairman of the ASIS Intl. Retail Loss Prevention Council. He has articles published in Security Management, LP Magazine, Optometric Management, and Seguridad En America Magazine. He has served on the editorial review committee of Fraud Magazine.

Dr. Fred Newell, CECI

Supervisor / Commander Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Dr. Newell currently serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the Graduate Criminal Justice/Homeland Security Curriculum within the Helms School of Government.
