Astronomy:Space pen

From HandWiki

A space pen is a pen that is conceptualized, designed, and manufactured to be used for writing in space (i.e. in the absence of earth gravity).

Motivation

Main page: Astronomy:Writing in space

NASA, faced with the fact that ball-point pens would not write in zero-gravity, spent a large amount of money to develop a pen that would write in the conditions experienced during spaceflight (the result purportedly being the Fisher Space Pen). The Soviet Union took the simpler and cheaper route of just using pencils..[1]

Development

The Fisher Space Pen was developed independently by a private organization in the 1960s, and went to orbit for the first time in 1968[2].
