Biography:Melissa A. Wilson Sayres

From HandWiki

Dr. Melissa A. Wilson Sayres (Nee Melissa A. Wilson) is an assistant professor at Arizona State University where she is PI of the Sex Chromosome Lab, which studies sex chromosomes.[1][2][3] She received her Ph.D. in Integrative Biology at Pennsylvania State University.[3]

One finding of her lab is that crossing over between the X and Y chromosomes occurs more often than was previously thought.[4] Another is that the Y chromosome is not decreasing in size,[5][6] and the discovery of a Y chromosome population bottleneck in human history.[7][8] The lab uses the Glia monster as a model organism to understand the evolution of sex chromosomes.[9][10]

She has publicly spoken out against the use of science to justify white supremacy.[11]
