Zolana Rui Joao (born October 23, 1980) is an Angolan engineer and is the General Manager of the Angola National Space Program Management Office.[1] The agency under the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information and Social Communication Technologies (MINTTICS) is responsible for promoting the peaceful use of space and conducting technical space studies in Angola.

Education

Joao received MTech degree in Electrical Engineering from the Tshwane University of Technology in Pretoria, South Africa, and an MSc degree in Electrical Engineering from the French South African Institute of Technology and École Supérieure d'Ingénieurs en Électronique et Électrotechnique (ESIEE) Paris, France . He is also completed the Engineering Management graduate course program with the George Washington University.[2]

Career

Zolana has been managing GGPEN since January 2014,[3] overseeing projects such as the construction and launch of AngoSat-1 in 2017.[1][4] Since 2014, he has aided human capacity building in space engineering programs for more than 60 engineers and raised 45 Angolan engineers certified by the Russian Space Agency as satellite operators.[1] Joao serves as a non-executive Board Member at the Angolan Institute of Communications (INACOM) where he contributes to regulation and supervision of the Angolan Communication Market.[5][2]
