Biology:FluVaxView

From HandWiki

FluVaxView is a website launched by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It offers interactive influenza vaccination reports aimed at being used to improve planning and evaluation of vaccination efforts.[1] FluVaxView is considered the most accesible of the two national surveillance systems that enable public health professionals to access information on influenza vaccine uptake in the United States .[2]

Sources

FluVaxView aggregates uptake data from several national surveys.[2] For the general population influenza vaccination coverage, it collects data from the National Immunization Survey-Flu (NIS-Flu) and the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) for population at the national, regional, and state levels by age group and race/ethnicity. For healthcare personnel influenza vaccination coverage, data is collected from the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) for hospital-based personnel at the national and state levels by personnel group. For nursing home influenza vaccination coverage, it collects data from the Long-Term Care Minimum Data Set (MDS) from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) at the national, regional, and state levels by sociodemographic characteristics. Finally, for pregnant women influenza vaccination coverage, FluVaxView collects data from the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) for women who had a recent live birth at the state level by age and race/ethnicity.[3]

Presentation

FluVaxView provides the monthly percentage of adults in the United States who received an influenza vaccine in a given month in each state, as well as the percentage of citizens who report vaccination in different demographic groups each influenza season.[2] It uses interactive maps, trend lines, bar charts and data tables to offer national, regional, and state-level influenza vaccination coverage estimates.[3]
