Semicassis granulata undulata is a Mediterranean subspecies of Semicassis granulata, the Scotch bonnet, a medium-sized sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the subfamily Cassinae, the helmet snails and bonnet snails.
Taxonomy
Although this taxon was previously sometimes referred to at species level as Semicassis undulata, and was also sometimes referred to at species level as Semicassis granulata, the World Register of Marine Species considers this Mediterranean taxon to be a subspecies of Semicassis granulata, which is primarily a Western Atlantic taxon.[1]
Distribution
This species occurs in the Mediterranean Sea and in the Atlantic Ocean off Northwest Africa and the Macaronesian Islands.
