ARCAD Software is a privately held independent software vendor founded in 1992.

ARCAD is headquartered in Annecy, France and operates internationally from 12 offices in Europe, USA and APAC.

Histoire

The core of the ARCAD product range for the AS/400 platform was developed in 1988 under the initiative of Philippe Magne, now ARCAD Software CEO, to a quality mandate at the European Space Center in French Guiana.

Identifying a wider market, Magne founded ARCAD Software in 1992 to commercialize and develop the software configuration management tools in agreement with the European Space Agency.

The company offers tools designed specifically for the AS/400 platform running OS/400 (renamed I5/OS and finally IBM i in 2008).

Reception

ARCAD Software has pursued a business and technology partnership with IBM since 2003.

In 2006, the Oseo ANVAR innovation agency awarded ARCAD Software with financing to further expand its multi-platform initiative[1].

ARCAD was rated leading enterprise modernization solution at the IBM Innovate 2013 conference obtaining First Prize for ARCAD Software[2].

In answer to market demands for a cloud-based, containerized Web IDE for IBM i, IBM invited ARCAD in 2020 to co-develop a new modernization framework for IBM i[3][4].

In 2017, ARCAD Software raised 3.5 million euros in funding from the Alto Invest fund (2.5 million), Bpifrance (500,000 euros), two banks (400,000 euros) and the Region (100,000 euros)[5].

In 2021, ARCAD Software joined the Hexatrust alliance of cloud computing and cybersecurity champions[6].

In the same year, ARCAD Software obtained the France cybersecurity label[7].
