Flowroute is a provider of cloud-based communications, based in Seattle, Washington.[1][2] Flowroute was founded by Bayan Towfiq, Jordan Levy, and Sean Hsieh in Irvine, California in 2007.[3]
Flowroute's services include SIP trunking, local DIDs and toll-free numbers, outbound termination, and network services such as E911, CNAM Lookup, CNAM Storage, and local number portability.[4] Flowroute is also a provider for Voxbone’s iNum initiative and is a CLEC.[5]
History
Flowroute was founded in 2007 by Bayan Towfiq, Jordan Levy, and Sean Hsieh, three computer scientists who had met studying computer science at University of California, Irvine.[3] After college, Towfiq and Levy began working on Flowroute, with Hsieh joining a few months later. The company was bootstrapped, having raised no angel or venture capital investment.[3]
In February 2013, Flowroute relocated from Irvine, California to Seattle, Washington.[6]
On June 24, 2013, Flowroute's SIP trunking services were used to enable interoperability between WebRTC endpoints and the PSTN during the launch of FreeSWITCH's WebRTC module. This extended PBX services to WebRTC portals on FreeSWITCH-based telephony platforms for the first time.[7]
In August 2013, Flowroute was listed on Inc. magazine's annual list of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the United States. Flowroute was noted for its 411 percent revenue growth over the prior three years.[8] In November 2013, Flowroute placed in position 70 on Deloitte's 2013 Technology Fast 500 list which includes both public and private companies.[9]
In 2015, Flowroute's CEO, Bayan Towfiq, became a Pacific Northwest semi-finalist for Ernst & Young's 2015 Entrepreneur of the Year Award.[10]
In 2018, Flowroute was acquired by West Corporation.[11]
In 2019, West Corporation changed its company name to Intrado. Flowroute is now referred to Flowroute, an Intrado Company.[12]
Services
Flowroute provides customizable voice and messaging services for Cloud PBX providers, such as inbound and outbound calling, local and toll-free, international, and vanity numbers in US and Canada, among others.[13] An API at the Flowroute Developer portal is available to obtain resources like technical documentation, sample source code, and reference guides to create new applications.[14]
