Gloss is an arts and social media company and publisher.

Founded in 2016, Gloss focuses on creating and curating shareable art, food, and culture content.[1][2]

Gloss are best known for their viral video creation across multiple platforms including a website, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok. In July 2017, Gloss was the most watched video creator across the globe with 2.8 billion video views according to Tubular Labs’ monthly rankings.[3] In 2018, Gloss were winners at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, taking home 8 awards including two Grand Prix accolades.[4]

History

The Gloss project started in April 2016 when the channel published their first Instagram and Facebook posts which achieved over 75,000 interactions. In 2021, Gloss's Instagram account had almost 5 million followers and was attracting over 70 million views every 7 days.[5]

In July 2017, Tubular Labs ranked Gloss as the No. 1 'Media & Entertainment Creator' in the world. [6] In the same month, Gloss also achieved No. 3 globally in the Top Media & Entertainment Properties, ahead of Time Warner, Comcast and Sony.[7][8]

In December 2021, Gloss surpassed 3 million followers on TikTok.[9]

Content and campaigns

Gloss creates and publishes original and acquired content, [10] including editorial, video, and documentary material. Since its launch in 2016, Gloss have posted over 4,000 videos, which have attracted over 41.8 billion views on Facebook.[11] Their content covers art, food, and culture. They also run campaigns on subjects intended to interest a younger market, such as travel, pop culture, and political matters.

Celebrity Content Gloss have worked with celebrities, such as Dwayne Johnson, to produce content for its platforms, like the 'Ice Ball Cocktail' [12].

NFTs

Following a number of commercially successful Non-fungible token auctions involving works by Banksy[13][14][15], Gloss created and minted its own NFT inspired by a work by Banksy in November 2021.[16][17] Titled 'Banksy Warning Sign' and listed for auction on NFT platform Opensea, Gloss's Banksy NFT was described in a BBC article as driving "'seismic' change in art world".[18]

Awards

At the Prolific North Awards 2016, Gloss won Video of the Year with their video featuring a Donald Trump meme.[19]

At the 2017 Brand Film Festival awards, Gloss received a Best of The Best Award for their commitment to promoting the arts and artists.[20]
