History

Lyfeguard was founded in 2021 by Gary Stewart and Fraser Stewart.[2][3][4][5]

The platform launched in 2022, initially aimed at individuals managing legal, financial, and life documents. In 2023, Lyfeguard introduced a version for financial advisers focused on digital onboarding, data collection, and document sharing.[6][7][8]

In 2025, Lyfeguard was selected to join the FinTech Innovation Lab London, a business accelerator programme led by Accenture and supported by financial institutions.[9]

Products

Lyfeguard operates a software-as-a-service platform offered to individuals and financial advisers.

The consumer version allows users to store and categorise documents such as wills, insurance policies, and identification records. Users can assign data access permissions and connect accounts via Open Finance integrations with third-party providers.

The adviser platform includes digital fact-finding, document exchange, and client financial data aggregation. Lyfeguard operates as an appointed agent of Moneyhub Financial Technology Ltd, an FCA-authorised provider.[10]

Partnerships

In 2023, Lyfeguard partnered with Farewill, a UK-based will-writing service, to integrate its estate planning tools.[11]

The company has also announced partnerships with Moneyhub for Open Finance integrations and Hometree for home emergency cover services.[12]

In 2024, Adviser Services Holdings Ltd included Lyfeguard on its preferred partner list for member financial advice firms.[13]

Recognition

In 2023, Lyfeguard received the “Small Family Business of the Year” award from Business Awards UK[14] and was named “Most Innovative Life Planning Platform” by SME News.[15]

The company was shortlisted for the Family Business category at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards in 2023 and 2024.[16][17]

Lyfeguard was also featured in 2024 on the Sky TV programme Venture Visionaries.[18]
