MuchDifferent is a Swedish software development company founded in 2008 in Uppsala, Sweden. The company holds the world record for the greatest number of players in an online multiplayer first-person shooter video game.

World record

The world record for the greatest number of players in an online multiplayer first-person shooter video game was set on the 29th of January 2012 in Uppsala, Sweden and verified by Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition.[1][2][3] The record, 999 simultaneous players, was set using networking technology developed in-house by MuchDifferent. Players from all over the world participated.

Multi player network technology

MuchDifferent develops and markets multiplayer networking developer tools for the Unity game engine. These tools are used by developers such as Behaviour Interactive and Jagex to develop games like Warhammer 40,000,[citation needed] and Transformers Universe.
