GLUE

Scispot is a Y Combinator, MaRS, Velocity, CDL supported life sciences company that is focused on improving research processes within the biotech industry.[1][2][3][4][5] Through its platform, Scispot offers biotech companies tools and features that enhance lab operations efficiency, data management, and collaboration.[6] Scispot's tech stack acts as an alternative to pre-existing laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and electronic lab notebooks (ELN) with additional project management tools, data visualization features, and a developer toolkit.[7] Additionally, the company works alongside new technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), to further develop lab management software for research and development (R&D).[8]

History

Scispot is a Canadian company founded in 2020 by Guru and Satya Singh.[5] Motivated by personal experiences, including the unfortunate loss of their mother due to a lack of accessible medication, they hope to modernize biotech R&D.[9] Guru was formerly the founder of Scientist.in Foundation, director of scientific content at Scientist.com and Science Exchange and Head of Growth at LabTwin. [10][11]

Company Mission and Vision

With a vision of democratizing the life science industry and helping R&D labs eliminate major diseases, Guru and Satya's mission is to provide a scalable TechBio platform.[5] Scispot was created as a result. Their current goal is to support over 10,000 small to medium biotech companies with their lab management software by 2025.[6]

Support

Scispot receives support from the following organizations:

Usage

  • Sample Tracking and Management: track and manage samples throughout their lifecycle, including recording sample information, location, storage conditions, and associated metadata.[7]
  • Experiment Planning and Documentation: plan, document, and store experimental procedures, observations, and results in a digital format, facilitating efficient data capture and retrieval.[7][8]
  • Data Organization and Analysis: organizing, structuring, and analyzing research data to track trends, generate insights, and draw conclusions.[4] [8]
  • Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: share experimental protocols, results, and findings with colleagues.
  • Instrument Integration: integrate with laboratory instruments and equipment, automating data transfer and minimizing manual data entry.
  • Workflow Automation: automate routine tasks, such as result calculations, report generation, and data transfers.[7]
  • Quality Control and Quality Assurance: monitoring instrument performance, managing calibration schedules, and facilitating the tracking of quality metrics.
  • Inventory and Resource Management: managing laboratory inventory, including reagents, consumables, and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels, and adequate resource allocation.[7]
