Simployer Group AS is a Scandinavian vendor of human resources software as a service. Simployer also offers HR consultancy and legal support to companies in Norway and Sweden. Bjørn Garder founded the company in 1985, and until 2020 the name was Infotjenester. In 2020 a majority of the shares was acquired by Ferd in a transaction that valued the company at $110 million.[1]

Independent expert advice

Simployer has since the start provided an independent expert voice on subjects related to rules and regulations from an employer’s perspective, offering companies professional advice and courses in a wide range of areas within professional working life. Simployer also analyses key figures on working life and received media attention when the company presented numbers on how much companies saved on reduced travel activities during the COVID-19 pandemic.[2] The Simployer advisors have on several occasions been interviewed as experts, in example regarding loss of salary when the borders were closed during the pandemic.[3]

Business

Simployer offers HRM/HCM software subscriptions which lets companies that choose from a range of modules to combine a tailored HR management solution. The modules cover the entire employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding, including streamlining HR processes like absence and leave management, talent development, HSE and employee manuals.[4] Simployer also provide legal support, both subscription-based and through hotel seminars and online courses.

In an article in CIO Applications, the company states that Simployer has grown to become a HRM software platform used by nearly 900,000 executives and employees.[5] The company is located at five locations in Sarpsborg and Kristiansund (Norway), Stockholm and Gothenburg (Sweden) and Gdansk (Poland).[6]

Technology

Simployer build services as software-as-a-service (SaaS) from the start[7], with HR master data as a foundation and an open API[8] enabling the user to use data in other applications. The Simployer app ranks among the 50 most downloaded mobile business apps in Norway.[9]

History

Simployer was not a software company from the start. The company earned subscribers by offering telephone support and ring binders with interchangeable sheets to CEOs, HR people and accounting managers.

In 2001 personnel manuals was established as a new digital-born product line, and in 2006 cloud-based travel expense software was made available via the software-as-a-service business model. From there the software suite was gradually expanded by a combination of in-house tech development and acquisitions. [10]
