Spot.IM is a social engagement platform that builds online communities around digital content.[1] Spot.IM works with publishers to bring conversations back from social networks to publisher sites.
Headquartered in New York City , the company also has an office in Tel-Aviv Yafo, Israel.
History
The company was founded in 2012 by Nadav Shoval and Ishay Green who now serve as CEO and CTO respectively.[2] Prior to starting Spot.IM, Green founded Soluto, a device protection service that integrates a mobile app, web portal, proactive communications, and remote device management into one service.[3] The company was later acquired by Asurion.[4]
In 2016, Spot.IM raised $13 million from Index Ventures and AltarR Capital, along with other notable technology investors, in a Series A round.[5]
In 2017, co-founder and CEO, Nadav Shoval, was inducted into the second annual Forbes Israel 30 Under 30 list.[6] In addition, the company finalized its Series C investment round of $25M,[7] led by the reputable New York City-based fund - Insight Venture Partners. The company has declared that the funds will be mainly used to support its global expansion, including doubling the size of its New York-based team, and for launching a new group of products to help publishers build an on-site community.
