The Husqvarna Norden 901 is a dual-sport motorcycle produced by Husqvarna Motorcycles. The motorcycle has been available since autumn 2021 and is the first dual-sport bike from the Husqvarna brand. Technically, it is largely based on the KTM 890 Adventure.

History

The Norden 901 was first presented as a at the EICMA 2019. In October 2021 it was then presented to the public as a series model and largely corresponded to the study from 2019. With the Norden 901, a two-cylinder engine is available in a Husqvarna motorcycle for the first time since the brand has belonged to Pierer Mobility, the co-owner of KTM.[1]

Specifications

Engine

The engine of the Norden 901 is a water-cooled in-line 2-cylinder with a capacity of 889 cm3 (54.3 cu in), which runs extremely low-vibration thanks to two balancer shafts.[2] The engine is based on the KTM LC8c engine that was already installed in the KTM 890 Adventure.[1]

Equipment

The equipment of the Norden 901 is similar to that of the KTM 890 Adventure in many areas. In addition to the engine, the frame and swingarm were also taken over from the KTM model. There are three riding modes (Street, Rain and Offroad) as standard, with Explorer mode available as an option (comparable to KTM's Rally mode).[1] The ABS is a cornering ABS from Bosch with street and off-road modes. The traction control is dependent on the lean angle and can be adjusted in nine levels in Explorer mode. In addition, the Norden 901 has a ride-by-wire throttle response, a quick shifter and an anti-hopping clutch.[2] In comparison with the KTM 890 Adventure, the fairing is particularly striking, with a round headlight based on the design of the Husqvarna Street models. LED auxiliary headlights are also standard. Another difference is the suspension with a fully adjustable WP Apex inverted fork and a fully adjustable WP Apex shock absorber.[1]

Reception

The Norden 901 was very well received positively overall. Especially when compared to the technically similar KTM 890 Adventure, it is described as a harmonious and "very accessible" motorcycle and an asset to the dual-sport segment and the Husqvarna brand. In particular, the look, which is much more pleasing than that of KTM, is repeatedly emphasized positively.[1][3]
