NRIST S-200 series UAVs are Chinese UAVs developed by Nanjing Research Institute of Simulation Technology (南京模拟技术研究所) (NRIST), also known as the 60th Research Institute of People's Liberation Army General Staff Department (总参六十所), an ISO 9001 certified research/production facility headquartered in Nanjing. S-200 series UAVs are part of larger NRIST S-series UAVs.

S-200W

S-200W is a turbojet powered drone developed by NRIST with cylindrical fuselage and V-tail. S-200W is used to simulate cruise missiles, and its navigation system utilizes TERCOM, just like that of cruise missile. S-200W is mainly used to support the development of electro-optics and radars of air defense systems, and it can also be used to train air defense forces. Specification:[1]

  • Length (m): 3.1
  • Wingspan (m): 1.4
  • Speed (m/s): 200
  • Max take-off weight (kg): 75
  • Endurance (min): 60
  • Remote control range (km): 100
  • Ceiling (km): 5
  • Min operating altitude (m): 50
  • Propulsion: turbojet engine @ 40 kgf turbojet
  • Temperature range (°C): -20 to +50
  • Launch: Rocket-assisted take-off
  • Recovery: parachute

S-200

S-200 UAV is a development of S-200W drone developed by NRIST. S-200 UAV is an enlarged version of S-200W, with ceiling and weight both increased by twenty-percent. In addition to performing all the mission S-200W designed to perform, S-200 can also be used as reconnaissance UAV by carrying necessary payload needed to carry out the mission. Specification:[2]

  • Weight (kg): 90
  • Payload (kg): 8
  • Ceiling (km): 6
  • Endurance (min): 30
  • Remote control radius (km): 50
  • Launch: Rocket-assisted take-off
  • Recovery: parachute

S-200J

S-200J is an UAV developed by NRIST, with J stands for Ji-Dong (机动), meaning maneuvore. Although having S-200 designation as part of its own designation, and claimed as one of the S-200 series, S-200J appears to be a totally different UAV than all other UAV developed by NRIST that have S-200 in their designation. S-200J looks completely different than all previous UAVs of S-200 series, and instead of cylindrical fuselage with short stub wings, S-200J somewhat resembles a miniature version of North American XB-70 Valkyrie for having similar layouts. The difference is that instead of the delta wing of XB-70, S-200J has cropped delta wing. The canards of S-200J is closer to the main wing in comparison to that of XB-70. The exhaust of S-200J is also different than that of XB-70 in that it incorporates stealth feature. S-200J UAV is intended to simulate targets that can pull high g maneuvore at high speed because previous high-speed drones developed by China can not do so, while those can could only do so at low speed. Specification[3]

  • Max g allowed: 6
  • Max time at high g (sec): 7 – 20
  • Max speed (M): 0.75
  • Ceiling (km): 7
  • Weight (kg): 150
  • Payload (kg): 15
  • Endurance (min): 30
  • Remote control radius (km): 100
